From: The Unknown Night...

R.A. Blakelock, Dying Day, oil on board, 4 7/8 x 5 5/8 in.

"Mystical truth exists for the individual who has the transport, but for no one else.
In delusional insanity, paranoia... we may have diabolical mysticism, a sort of
religious mysticism turned upside down."

---William James

James quote used in The Unknown Night: The Genius and Madness of R.A. Blakelock by Glyn Vincent

Reminds me so much of Ryder. Dark and mysterious. I honestly don't think I have heard of him before your post. I found it strange that he was born in the same year as Ryder and died 2 years after him.

Yes, he was in that circle w/ Ryder, and Inness.
I had been meaning to get the bio of Blakelock for a while and finally got it!
